Job and Internship Opportunities for Students and Alumni of the Virginia Tech Center for Public Administration and Policy.

Educational and Mentoring Plan. The intern will work directly with GFOA Federal Liaison Center Director to organize and implement GFOA's federal legislative and regulatory strategy. Interns will learn the federal priorities and concerns of state and local governments related to municipal finance as well as basic federal advocacy skills, and develop experience in working in the association world.
GFOA interns will be assigned to assist on special projects updating and revising GFOA publications on an ad hoc basis. Interns will assist in editing and organizing updates for existing projects and initiatives. The intern will also have an opportunity to assist staff with tracking legislation, to learn about GFOA’s priority federal issues and how GFOA interacts with federal departments and agencies, Congress, and state and local government advocacy organizations that share GFOA’s federal policy goals. The intern will also assist with administrative duties.
Requirements
Ideal candidates will be pursing an undergraduate or graduate degree in public policy, political science or related degree and/or have a strong interest in federal legislative and regulatory process.
Strong writing skills and ability to work independently are required.
