Internship Status: Paid, hourly rate of $13.01 for undergraduate level and $14.98 for graduate level student.

Start/End Date: May 16-23, 2022 and end by the start of the fall semester.

Work Hours: flexible within the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm M-F.

Internships are limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week.

Work Location: All Department of Finance divisions are located at 4301 E. Parham Road, Henrico, VA 23228

We will be hiring a student in each of the following Divisions within our Finance Department. Applicants are strongly encouraged to include a cover letter indicating the division that they are most interested and why along with at least three learning goals related to the internship.

1. Budget (hiring 1 student, Intern II/III): We seek a graduate level student or well-qualified undergraduate level student who is studying Public Policy, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics.

The intern will learn about the responsibility for preparing and managing the County’s annual fiscal plan, budget, and compiling and publishing the County's Five-Year Capital Improvement plan and special studies as directed by County administration for revenue or expenditure impact.

The intern will be involved in research, data analysis, preparing and presenting reports while learning about County operations and working with staff to prepare or amend budget recommendations. The selected student will need: knowledge of Accounting principles, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Account Analysis, Revenue and Expenditures, and financial management strategies and fiscal analysis. Note: The Hiring selection and level is dependent on the qualification of the successful applicant and the needs of the County for this position. Depending on work necessitating, the selected student along with their performance and availability the internship could go across multiple semesters.
